Greetings to All!
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”
Romans 15:13, ESV
What gives you hope? Presidential elections? Rain after a long drought? The right Christmas present? Good health?
Yes, all those might make us hopeful. But Paul comes at it in a very different way. He suggests that hope comes through “believing.” In our believing, we are relying on the Holy Spirit to bless us with all the grace gifts that Father has put into our account – that account that Jesus added us to after He rose up out of that dank cave near Jerusalem! Yep! Jesus shares a joint account with us. Before Heaven and all the world, our eternal credit rating is A1+. What a Chrismas gift! That should give us HOPE.
2016 was a year of recovery for us. We took only one international trip this year – a two-week vacation in Warsaw, Poland, in the fall so that we could hang out with our kids and grandkids (Erin, Greg, Abi and Hannah Skrobarczyk)! it was wonderful – visiting Abi and Hannah’s school, a guided tour of old town Warsaw, a reunion with Greg’s parents and family, two days in Dresden, Germany, pierogi, a revisit to Malbork (one of the most amazing castles in the world), and through it all fun with the family.
Sandra and I both have been recovering from health issues this year: Sandra’s been sparring and winning with her A1C (blood glucose) number. I am so proud of her commitment to change her eating and exercise habits. I’m finally feeling some relief from chronic back soreness, depression, Achilles pain and weight issues! Together we have lost around 45 lbs.! Please join us in prayer that this might be the beginning of real lifestyle change that stays with us for the future.
We continue our ministry of offering counseling and prayer ministry, communication skills training and mentoring to individuals and couples. And it continues to be rewarding to see Father work in very customized ways in each of the unique lives we have the privilege of touching. This is another area that we ask for your prayers. May Father find us to be useful agents in the ministry of reconciliation.
2017, however, looks to be filling up in an exciting way. Our Grace Link board is wanting to amp things up. Here are a few of our plans for early next year:
- Grace Link Board Vision retreat – Quail Creek Resort, Jan. 13-14
- Christ Our Life conference – Rivertree Church, Jan. 27-28
- Men’s Bible Study: Romans 1-4 – Rivertree Church, 5 weeks begins Jan. 31
- Grace Life Workshop – date and place TBD.
Please come be part of these events and invite friends or family or co-workers to come and hear about the scandalous love of God through Jesus Christ.
2016 was our 25th anniversary as a ministry! For 25 years now Father has provided the gifts and financial support required to keep Grace Link and our ministry, Simply Life, operating. As a non-profit ministry, we, just like other non-profits, require charitable, tax-deductible monetary gifts to pay the bills. (By now you likely have heard or read that a dozen times.
Should you give to the needs of Grace Link? All we ask is that you ask Father what He would have you do. If you decide to do so, you can go here – www.simplylifenow.org – and use the DONATE button to give through PayPal.
Our deepest thanks to all of you who have been with us these 25 years and our hope is that in 2017 you might find hope and a deeper, richer, more empowering relationship with Jesus Christ.
Many holiday blessings and new year’s blessings to you!
Blake and Sandra Rymer
